Cape Cod Bay & Plymouth Fishing Report

Trophy Fish Caught

Recent water conditions across Plymouth Bay and Stellwagen Bank have produced exceptional action for anglers targeting trophy fish. Current offshore sea surface temperatures have brought heavy schools of bunker and squid into Cape Cod Bay, triggering heavy feeding activity among giant game species. Anglers on our recent offshore charters have hooked record-class Bluefin Tuna using live bait and topwater plugs, along with massive migratory Striped Bass feeding along the Plymouth rocky coastline. As summer Gulf Stream currents push warm water closer to shore, pelagic species including Atlantic Bonito, Bluefish, and seasonal warm-water species like Mahi-Mahi are making strong appearances alongside traditional bottom-dwellers like Haddock and Cod.

Family-Friendly Fishing

Our specialized family fishing trips are designed to offer a relaxed, easy-going day on the water for anglers of all ages and experience levels. Cuz Charters prioritizes safety on every trip, equipping our USCG-certified vessel with complete safety gear, life jackets for all sizes, and top-tier fishing tackle tailored for kids and beginners. We focus on calm, inshore waters throughout Plymouth Harbor and Cape Cod Bay, where fast-paced Black Sea Bass fishing and Scup keep young anglers actively catching fish without long boat runs. With Captain Ed guiding every step, parents and children can focus on having fun, learning proper rod-handling techniques, and enjoying a stress-free outing.

Fishing Year-Round in Plymouth & Cape Cod

While peak summer months offer prime action for Striped Bass and offshore pelagics, targeted angling opportunities exist fishing year-round in New England waters. Spring kicks off with early-season Haddock and Tautog structure fishing, while summer brings topwater striper blitzes and offshore tuna migrations. Late autumn delivers heavy fall-run Striped Bass, Black Seabass, and late-season pelagics before winter shifts focus to local freshwater ponds and early spring cod runs. By tracking real-time weather windows, bait migrations, and water temperatures daily, Cuz Charters delivers reliable, productive Massachusetts fishing charters regardless of the season.

Real-Time Fishing Conditions, Recent Catches, and Seasonal Forecast for Massachusetts Anglers fishing report coverpicture

July 20, 2026

Plymouth Bay - Plymouth, MA Fishing Report on 20th Jul, 2026

Water temperatures across Plymouth Bay and Cape Cod Bay have settled into peak mid-summer ranges, driving exceptional bait concentrations throughout local waters. Dense schools of pogies (menhaden) and sand eels are holding tight to coastal drop-offs, triggering aggressive feeding cycles for both inshore game species and offshore pelagics. Anglers heading out from Plymouth Harbor are experiencing outstanding action across all depths. Whether you are aiming to land a trophy fish on light tackle or head offshore for big-game sportfishing, current sea conditions and stable weather windows offer prime opportunities across Massachusetts waters. Inshore Report: Striped Bass & Bluefish Blitzes Inshore action along the Plymouth, Duxbury, and Kingston coastlines is in full swing. Early morning and late afternoon tides are producing explosive topwater blitzes as migratory Striped Bass push bait toward the surface. Drifting live pogies or casting heavy topwater plugs around rocky structure, river mouths, and tide rips has been the most effective strategy for targeting slot and over-slot stripers. Alongside the striper bite, aggressive Bluefish have moved into Cape Cod Bay in force, cutting into bait schools and providing relentless rod-bending action. For families and casual anglers, bottom fishing in the calmer stretches of Plymouth Bay is producing steady numbers of Black Sea Bass, Scup, and Summer Flounder (Fluke), making half-day inshore trips fast-paced and high-yield. Offshore Report: Stellwagen Bank Bluefin Tuna & Bottom Fishing For anglers making the run out to Stellwagen Bank and surrounding offshore grounds, the heavy tackle bite is delivering serious results. Surface temperatures have drawn schools of recreational and giant-class Bluefin Tuna into key feeding lanes. Trolling spreads and drifting live bait along bank edges where cold-water upwellings concentrate baitfish have produced solid tuna hookups. Bottom fishing on deeper structure continues to yield limits of table-fare favorites. Charter groups targeting 150- to 250-foot depth contours are bringing home steady catches of Haddock, Cod, and Pollock. Checking sea surface temperature charts and tracking bait movements daily remains the key to staying on these shifting offshore schools. Seasonal Forecast & Best Times to Fish Target Species: Striped Bass, Bluefin Tuna, Bluefish, Black Sea Bass, Haddock. Prime Tides: Moving water during early morning incoming tides and late afternoon ebb tides. Recommended Tackle: 7' medium-heavy spinning setups for inshore stripers; 50–80 lb class conventional gear for offshore tuna. Forecast: Expect the strong inshore striper and sea bass bite to hold steady through the coming weeks, with offshore tuna activity peaking as pelagic bait migrations continue to build across Cape Cod Bay.
